Kasturi - Ayan Al Gazal
Region: Nepal
A deep, warm and mysterious expression of musk
Kasturi, Ayan Al Gazal opens with a blend of soft sweetness and fresh, distinctive sharpness. When smelled closely, its sharper side becomes noticeably more pronounced. After a while, a subtle leathery feel begins to emerge, adding a slightly dry and deeper character beneath the sweetness. As the fragrance settles, the initial sharpness becomes smoother while the sweet and leathery impressions remain. This is not a typical Soft & Sweet attar, but a fitting choice for those who enjoy sweetness with a sharper and slightly deeper edge.

How it unfolds
Behind the scent
A Sharp and Leathery Character Beneath the Sweetness
Kasturi, Ayan Al Gazal does not open like a familiar musk fragrance. Once applied to the skin, it first reveals a soft and smooth sweetness. The sweetness is neither heavy nor dessert-like. Instead, it has a gentle and familiar quality that is easy to notice but difficult to connect to one specific ingredient.
Alongside this sweetness is a fresh and distinctive sharpness. From a little distance, the sweeter side feels more noticeable. When smelled closely, however, the sharper aspect becomes much stronger and is clearly felt in the nose. It carries a spicy impression, although no individual spice stands out clearly enough to be identified. This sharpness keeps the fragrance lively and prevents it from becoming a simple sweet attar.
During the first few minutes, the balance between sweetness and sharpness continues to shift. Sometimes the soft sweetness moves forward, while at other moments the fresh sharpness becomes more prominent. When smelled very close to the skin, its sharper character feels stronger. From a slight distance, the sweeter side appears softer and more comfortable.
As the fragrance develops, a subtle leathery quality begins to emerge. It does not resemble heavy, aged or rugged leather. Instead, it feels slightly dry, deep and firm beneath the sweetness. This leathery character contrasts with the softer side and adds greater depth to the fragrance. At times it becomes clearly noticeable, while at other moments it blends quietly beneath the sweet and sharp layers.
Around the half-hour mark, the intensity of the opening begins to settle. The sweet impression remains present, and the sharpness does not disappear completely. The leathery side occasionally moves forward, giving the fragrance a drier and more distinctive personality. Rather than simply becoming softer over time, its sweet, sharp and leathery characteristics appear differently at various stages.
Despite the name Kasturi, the opening does not immediately reveal a familiar dark, earthy or animalic musk character. Its noticeable identity is built around soft sweetness, fresh sharpness and a light leathery undertone. This unexpected combination separates it from both conventional musk fragrances and straightforward Soft & Sweet attars.
Kasturi, Ayan Al Gazal is suited to those who enjoy fragrances with an evolving character rather than one-dimensional sweetness. Its soft opening, fresh bite and subtle leathery feel create an attar that needs a little time on the skin to be fully understood.
